The guys take the stage and don't talk to each other or to the audience. I thought that strange. But about 1 minute into the song you here a familiar voice on the mic from behind the curtain. "Murray" calling the boys to an emergency band meeting to discuss the boys lack of "stage prescence" LOL.
All three of them were in full on CHARACTER!!! The audience flipped out! It was about a 5 minute discussion which included a roll call
Band meeting over and they "kick out the jams"
.
Once again Jemaine was making loads of eye contact with the audience while Bret just looks off into the sea of people watching him. Not really making eye contact with people. Anyway, the whole 1st row was almost all Flighties!!!!
The show continues with the supporting acts playing in between the boys songs and banter.
Bic helped out with the xgirlfriends songs and it seems like they are refining their new music.
There was this one point during the show where one of the mics for Brets guitar wasn't on and he asked the audience if we could hear it and some people answered yes and then he said "oh you must be lying because the (stage hand guy) hadn't made it to where the control panels to turn it on yet"...it made everyone laugh.
It was amazing when they sang Leggy Blonde with Rhys!!!! What a treat for the audience for sure! Jemaine broke it down nicely. I loved the whole panties on part
Jemaine was talking about how he and Bic are distant cousins or related somehow. That how practically everyone in NZ is related to each other except for Bret. He said he use to fantasize about getting with Bic until he found out they were related. But that he would fantasize about her even when his girlfriend was there LOL! Then he corrected himself because Bret made a like WTF face at him when he said that so Jemaine then added "my x girlfriend that it is , x girlfriend" LOL!
Maybe someone can fill in the missing deets. Like the songs. Or what they wore.
If I think of more I will post it here

the show was SO great! i basically FREAKED out when I heard Rhy's voice. His standup consisted of making jet pack noises, helicopter noises, playing WAR! and pretending he was a robot. it was pretty sweet. i LOVE LOVE LOVE the new songs, especially the one about Jemaine being a prosititute and i love the demon woman song. "you're breasts are like flames...stop playing this BALL games!"
it was a great show, and jemaine looked SO good in those white pants. I guess they didn't stay after the show to do autographs, so I don't feel left out that I didn't stay. But i am sad that i didn't see ANY of the flighties that were there...how did i not see anyone?! it was SUCH a small venue. The owner of the Largo was pretty awesome, when we were getting our tickets he was pretty flirty with my sister and I...so fun! I hope that they do keep their promise about doing a 2nd annual new zealand day...or tour again. For some reason I don't think we'll see them for a while since they'll probably go back to filming soon....but it was a great night!

Ines did a really great job of breaking down the show for us, so I’ll try to remember some bits that might fill in the tale more completely.
The opening “band meeting” banter was fantastic! The audience completely lost it when we all heard Rhys’ voice. Some items on the agenda: Rhys had been in the coat closet while the guys had been in Bic’s dressing room (something they were reprimanded for); the good news was that Rhys had found new coats for the guys: a sleeveless one for Jemaine, to show off his guns (!!) and a child’s coat for Bret (awww…); their stage presence hand been lackluster the week before, and was notably absent this evening (since they, ahem, weren’t even onstage at the moment of Rhys’ meeting), and Rhys encouraged them to use figures of speech from New Zealand since it was national, international New Zealand night at largo. He advised them to use terms from Rugby.
I can’t remember what Bret was wearing (sorry! I was mesmerized by Jemaine!) but Jem was wearing a new-to-us shirt: blue with white stripes, with a button-up collar (showing not so much chest, alas) and tight, tight white pants. A few times Caitlin and I caught his tighty-whities peeking out above his waistline (at which point she and I would grab each other and silently squee, naturally). Did I mention they were TIGHT? OMG. Somewhere in the Jem-prostitute song (I think) Jem talked about how he’s been told that he wears pants that are just too tight (is that possible? ).
I did think Bret was more engaged with the audience last night, and they both seemed a bit more relaxed altogether. I wonder if this means they broke through that writer’s block this week…perhaps with the Jemaine as “Man-ho” song.
Speaking of which, the Prosti-Jem song is so freakin’ funny! I can’t remember many actual lines, but the basic plot they set up was that Jemaine has no idea how to budget his money. Hence, he relies on Bret to pay bills now and then, and it’s something that has caused tension between them. So, when Jemaine wants to pay for dessert (crème brule was mentioned) and doesn’t have the extra cash, instead of relying upon Bret, he just pops outside for about 20 minutes and sells himself for money. When he returns, however, Bret still covers the dessert because he doesn’t want to use the money Jemaine had earned by prostituting himself. At one point in the actual song, Bret chides Jemaine, explaining that he shouldn’t bring his customers home to their place. Bret calls Jemaine a “man-ho, male-gigolo” throughout.
I can’t wait for this episode; and I hope, hope, hope Mel is Jem’s first customer
Bo Runga was great – her personality and music style seems quite different from that of Bic, who was also fantastic. I think one of the highlights of the night was when the guys came out to perform backup vocals for Bic. The combination of the deep hum of Jem and Bret’s voices coupled with her ethereal vocals was just lovely.
Bret whipped out a mini, red, flying V for the Demon Woman song (a new favorite of mine for obvious reasons, I think) and, after the sound guy banter Ines referred to, did a fine job not only playing it, but also scrunching up his face throughout in his trademark pouts. Jemaine threw in some fake, possessed-like laughs near the end, and he was clearly getting into this character for the performance as evidenced by some of his hilarious facial expressions. Some memorable lines include: “how did you magic my clothes off?” “you make me worship at the temple of womb” and after a reference to the woman’s hot balls of breasts with which he plays, “I’m getting hot playing these ball games”(I may have some words mixed up here and there – feel free to correct me those of you who better recall the song).
Choir of ex-girlfriends with Bic was also fantastic; Jem added in a few more “shuddups” throughout, turning one bit into more of a growled “ssssshhhhhuuuuuttttttuuuupppp”. I think they should definitely keep that bit in!
When the guys were about to introduce Rhys, a girl in the audience yelled out “ginger balls!” to which Jem replied that they would have none of that in his playful “reprimanding Jem” fashion.
They closed on “Leggy Blonde” which was almost too amazing for words. Once again, the audience went crazy at this point; Rhys came out dressed in a Murray-like suit (yellow tie, I believe). Some of the lines were flubbed, but it was still wonderful, and I think everyone in the audience appreciated that this was a truly unique treat for us. The highlight of the song was Jemaine’s “panties on” line, which received a roar of audience approval that nearly drowned out Rhys’ closing lines.
After the show we waited around, in the hopes that the guys would be up to meeting with some fans. As Haley pointed out, a few were able to meet Rhys in the back. Right after he drove off I started walking back to the front of the venue with a friend, and all of a sudden the guys and their sig. others popped out of a side entrance maybe 5 feet in front of us. They clearly just wanted to get home, so my friend and I just froze, smiled, and waved back at them as they jumped into the car (a guy right next to their car asked Jem for a picture, which he took as he literally had one foot in the car). As they took off they honked at everyone who had waited around for them, and waved. Even though I was disappointed that they had to take off so quickly (mainly because one of our friends has yet to meet them in person) I think given that they are living here and performing for fun rather than doing the “business” of touring, it makes some sense that they just want to head home or hang out with friends after performing. I still think the night was totally worth it, and was clearly a lot of fun for those who performed as well.
I loved meeting more flighties (ahem, haley!) and especially loved knowing that the audience was composed of real fans of the group and of the other performers. The atmosphere was so different from that of the Orpheum, and it was part of what made last night so memorable.

That's how it was at SP20 too Tim. I can not even begin to describe the feeling...
Great, awesome, fantastically fantastic recap Chrissy! I love it that I can count on you and Caitlin for the most perfect Jem details. I can almost see him after reading that. Thank you!

It was such an amazing night! I'm so glad I took the trip out to see it!
Since Chrissy and Ines have done a fantastic job of telling you all most of the details...I'll just add my few bits in...
I got really fantastic seats, far left side of the venue, the 1st row in that section...literally 2 feet from the stairs to walk up to the stage.
I was on Jemaine's side,so of course I was happy!
Jemaine looked smokin'! The white pants could make anyone burst into dust!
Rhys was of course hilarious and the band meeting was absolutely adorable...(the coats part was so funny!)
All of their new songs were 'ucking AMAZING. The Jemaine prostitute song is my new favorite(Bret's voice in this is wonderful!)...and hurt feelings is great as well...and Demon Woman...Ahhhh I can't choose!
During this entire part of Bus Driver's song:
"Look to your left, what a beautiful sight
It’s Paula, Paula Thompson, meet Paula right
Look at her hair, it’s still gorgeous even now
Flowing like the wild Mahonga river, which incidentally is to your right
And is the largest in the area, in terms of volume
Everybody look at Paula, Look at Paula Thompson
I always thought I’d marry Paula, but some things just
don’t work out that way"
Jemaine was looking directly at me...or what appeared to be directly at me.
(Which is funny because I was on his right of the stage, not left)
I seriously almost melted into a puddle right then and there!! Even at the end my friend said "DID YOU SEE JEMAINE LOOKING AT YOU?" ...One of the best moments of the show for me!)
The song with Bic was so great...they just hummed in the background, but it was a very sweet, very special song.
Jemaine's extra 'shut ups' in Choir of Ex-Girlfriends were so damn cute...(Can the man do anything un-cute?I don't think so.)
Leggy Blonde was purely EPIC!
Rhys botched a little but it was hilarious.
Everyone in the audience was going crazy.
Jemaine's "thong thong thong" part was kinda botched to but who the eff cares! They sang it!!!!!
He did a little dance in his chair during it.
Man,I can't express how great the show was...the venue felt really intimate
and the guy's seemed really happy and in their element.
After the show I went to the back alley and my friend Hannah grabbed me and says "LOOK! IT'S RHYS!" and everyone rushes over to him,but we were the first ones there...
My friend was fumbling trying to find her camera and mine was being a douche...I felt bad for holding him up but he was so nice about it.
We of course told him how great he was and how much we loved him...I said "I'm sorry if I blind you with the camera's flash!"and he smiled and said "Oh,that's okay! I only have to drive home!"
So my friend and I got pictures with him...and I must say,he smells incredibly good and is very good looking in person!!
He then met like 3 other people and drove away and honked.
(My friend has the pictures of us meeting him,so I'll have to get them from her and post them later!)
Then we all rushed over and saw Bret/Jemaine/their significant others get in the car and go home, but they waved and smile and honked...I don't blame them for wanting to home (but I was bummed not getting to meet them,of course!)
I thought it was funny/adorable how Bret was driving,Jemaine was in the passenger's seat and their significant others were sitting in the backseat.
I can't get over how amazing the guy's sound/look in person (::cough::especially jemaine::cough: ... it seemed almost surreal.
I'm so glad I went & Met a ton of flighties, you all were so fantastically nice to me and my friends! THANK YOU! You made us Arizonans feel extremely welcome You all are great people and I wish I lived in California so I could hang out with you all at every Largo show!

I'm so happy for you that you finally got to see them live Haley and it is totally surreal. Like a dream come true that still feels like a dream. Thanks for your take on things!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot to add one of my favorite parts!
After their song with bic (i think it was??)
jemaine was holding his guitar still (but he didn't play it the entire time)
and he said "I just hold this so I have something to do with my hands...I'm like Art Garfunkel,I never know what to do with my hands" or something along those lines.
I,of course freaked because I am a GIGANTIC simon and garfunkel fan and loved his reference.

BTW -- I talked with another Flighty that was at the show, another guy!!! He said it was like the Beatles when the guys came on stage. I think that is great
I think he was a little in awe of it all
Ah! I think my digital ears are burning.
Yeah it was a little overwhelming to see such adulation for a couple of guys whom I think are very funny and talented but certainly don't think are the second coming. I mean it's not like they're the Jonas Brothers. I can't even imagine how Bret and Jemaine (not to mention their significant others) deal with such attention but it was all a lot of fun. Bic was the real highlight for me though. She has such an amazing voice and her songs are really something.

Thank god for that...but really?who cares. We were all there to have fun and show our support of how awesome the guys were...
I don't think anyone was going all obsessed and overboard...just cheering. What's wrong with that? ???

They're clever, talented, inventive, intelligent, and humble. I don't think there's anything wrong with celebrating them. Lots of artists aren't appreciated until they're dead, so the Conchords are fortunate to know how much they're loved.
