[size=100:utfrmuua]5 March 2010. 9.01am. I logged on to Ticketmaster and tried to buy tickets to one of the London Hammersmith Apollo dates for the Flight of the Conchords tour.

But there were none left - one minute after the tickets had gone on sale.

Bearing in mind that some tickets would have been sold in pre-sale allocation. Is it possible that all the tickets sold out in one minute? For both London dates?

Less than three hours after the tickets went on sale there are already four front row tickets listed on Ebay for over £6,600 . While they may not actually be sold for that amount there are already 33 bids on the tickets. Who is seriously going to pay nearly £7,000 for four tickets?

But what about ticket resale websites? Websites like Seatwave, Getmein and Viagogo all let people buy and resell tickets, which supposed ‘
fans’
have bought but no longer want or need.



There are already tickets for the Flight of the Conchords event on Getmein, owned by Ticketmaster which was selling those same tickets I couldn't get, and they are being resold for £203 a pop and on Seatwave for £229 per ticket.

It’
s not just Flight of the Conchords tickets which are subjected to this resale ripoff –
every popular gig has supposed ‘
fans’
buying up tickets and then selling them on at an inflated price.

This is Money has been campaigning against the unfairness of ticket re-sale websites since December 2007. Demand for live music and events has boomed over recent years, but in many cases fans are either ripped off buying tickets, or are unable to even purchase tickets that have been hoovered up by those looking to profit on their resale.

However, there are a few ‘
good guy’
ticket resale websites out there which resell tickets at face value (or pretty close to it). Sites like Scarlet Mist, Star Green and FaceValueTicket. None of which currently have tickets listed for the Flight of the Conchords gig. Funny that?

Nearly three years after This is Money first launched its campaign, online ticket reselling is still as much as a problem as street corner ticket touts, except they can't hide behind a computer.
