Yes, I hope you feel better today, Tim!
Thanks for the great recap! They didn't play Carol Brown down here, so I hope to hear it at one of the shows this weekend.
or 991 if the lays don't have to be all different people.

Ahh, Jem was showcasing the chest hair throughout the entire show--what a naughty, sweet, sixy boy he is.

source:[size=133:2t6hgjn3]Last Night: Flight of the Conchords @ Paramount
By Erika Hobart
Tuesday, May. 12 2009 @ 12:52PM
[size=100:2t6hgjn3]New Zealand's comedy duo Flight of the Conchords performed the first of three sold-out shows at the Paramount Theatre last night. And funnymen Bret McKenzie and Jermaine Clement proved to be worthy of their diehard fans' adoration with a highly entertaining two-hour set during which they danced in robot suits, did a cover of "
Free Bird"
per request, and even brought out the New Zealand Orchestra (one dude with a cello, due to budget cuts).
"
They told us we were going to Seattle and we said, 'We've already been there.'"
Clement said with a disappointed expression when the two came onstage. "
But... yeah... we're happy to be here."
The night began with FOTC dressed as robots singing and dancing wildly to "
Too Many Dicks on the Dancefloor."
They followed it with a deadpan dissertation on the song.
Favorites like "
Hurt Feelings"
and "
Business Time"
were well received, but the evening's highlight was by far "
Jenny,"
a hilariously awkward song about mistaken identity that had the audience in peals of laughter.
A few rowdy fans in the crowd shouted out requests between musical numbers, to which FOTC gamely responded. They obliged a woman with "
Song for Epileptic Dogs."
A few songs later, Clement—who has a far bigger stage presence than the equally talented but less charismatic McKenzie—joked, "
Free Bird? That's not us."
The two then launched into an animated cover of the Lynyrd Skynyrd song.
Of all bands, FOTC probably has one of the easiest fan bases to please. Most people who attend a FOTC concert are already well-versed in their material, thanks to their eponymous hit HBO series. The introductory notes of every song elicited cheers, as it reminded listeners of show episodes. FOTC would've had to 'uck up pretty badly for the evening to go wrong.
They didn't because truth be told, their musical abilities surpass that of most novelty acts. FOTC actually sing and play their instruments quite well. They may hit those falsetto notes in a mock display of melodrama, but the fact is that they can hit them.

source:[size=100:4dhaab2d]... We went to the theatre and bounced up and down with joy in our seats in the second mezz. Arj Barker (Dave from the show) opened with a stand-up routine. Lolz!
Bret and Jemaine opened with a song we'd never heard called "
Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor."
They were dressed as robots (but the didn't perform "
The Humans are Dead"
) They did "
Hurt Feelings"
, "
Business Time"
, "
Jenny"
, "
Mutha 'Uckas"
, "
I'm Not Crying"
, and "
Foux Du Fafa."
They also did new ones: "
The Choir of Ex-Girlfriends"
(in which the audience was required to help Bret sing the bridge "
aah aah aah aah aah-aah aahhhhhhhh!"
) and "
Stana"
(a Western legend parody about a very bad guy who comes down you chimney once a year and molests your family... among other things...).
Some of the audience were quite rude and shouted songs for them to play. A man shouted "
If you want me to!"
and Jemaine said, "
No, I don't want you to."
(They ended up playing it later, anyway.) They played "
Epileptic Dogs"
at request. Someone else shouted "
Freebird!"
and they were like, "
That's not one of ours... but okay."
They riffed it up a bit.
The last song they did was "
Sugalumps."
That was delightful! They came right down to the front of the stage and pelvic thrusted prolifically. One guy whipped out his cellphone to get a picture of Jemaine's crotch and Jemaine totally called him on it! ROFL!
For their encore, they came back out and Bret said, "
We were just getting changed to go home!"
Bret was in a zebra stripped jumpsuit that was open all the way down to his belt. Jemaine was in criminally tight gold low-rise pants and a mini-jacket which might as well have not existed... in other words, he was pretty much shirtless! They played an acid trip song that made no sense at all. I wasn't listening too hard. I was staring intently through my binoculars. " title="" border="0"/>
Audiemay and I went to the gift stand and got matching tour t-shirts. While we were pushing our way forward (we had a ferry to catch), Arj came by to drop off some of his CDs. We saw Dave up close!! ...

The plot thickens.
And how many zebra items does Bret have?????????

Not only that, but he was also wearing a zebra-striped pimp's coat.

I think Bret made zebra print hot again. IT'S EVERYWHERE. " title="" border="0"/> I literally saw zebra dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, purses, belts, etc., etc. today! He is obviously having a field day with this.Katie wrote:hellomyfriend wrote:

I like to imagine that Jem told him that he was sick of always being the only shirtless Conchord and wanted Bret to indulge his inner-six god, too...
