I was also shy, but grabbed Bret's hand...the stage was really high though, and I was too nervous to try to attempt to get up on it, so some fellow Flighties grabbed my legs and tried to push me up there. uhhhhhhhhh........thanks?? HAHAHA  It wasn't successful, so that's when he went to Laura, and then Jess Z. saved the day and Bret's joke.

Time to ptfo!  (Laura says hi!  She's sitting right next to me!   And she is my Nigel sign buddy! )

Oh wait...except just to clarify:
We didn't give the quilts to them during the show. Nikki put the flowers on the stage, and we gave the quilts to Jemaine (Bret didn't come out) outside after the show.

I was soooooooooo nervous while we were waiting for him to meet others that were ahead of us.  As people came to wait we kept telling them to go ahead of us since we had so much stuff to give and people to see him.  While I was standing there watching him with everyone I think I fell in love with him like 10x more... at least!  

I didn't think I would actually make it... he hadn't even come out yet and my legs were already shaking.   Thank goodness Nik who held my hand didn't care one bit about the amount of sweat my hand was giving off!     She was totally my support.  Thank you Nik!!!!!!!!!!    

I can't even begin to describe or recap the meeting.  All I can tell you is I'm surprised I could talk.  I first introduced myself to him... I said "Hi Jemaine, I'm Ami" he said "I know... "
   

He then proceded to tell me that he recognised me!!!!!!!              
After that I don't remember too much... he was really sweet.  I had said I was so nervous and he said "awww don't be" with the cutest smile everrrrrr!  

My brain is so freakin' scattered right now.  I have no idea when I'll feel normal again  

As for the presentation of the quilts.... it was so 'ucking epic!!!  I think he was genuinely touched by them.  I should also tell you guys that the first square he noticed on his was Sara's boobie one... I believe he said "ohhh boobies!" or something along those lines    

Second he noticed Chloe's.  The omnichord is what caught his eye, after that he thoroughly examined the whole square.  It was so cute.  
He looked it all over, for quite awhile.  I was lucky enough to hold one of the top corners while this was going on.    

The show was amazing by the way.  I'm sure I totally ruined all the videos the girl next to me was taking with all my laughing and screaming.  Katie and I sat on Jemaine's side.  I didn't get sugalumps direxctly in front of my face but they were in the face of the girl beside me so I'm pretty satisfied.  

I have a lot more to say about the show but unfortunately I'm using someone elses comp right now and it's pretty late.  This house doesn't have it's own computers like the one in Denver so I doubt I'll be checking in much until I get home on the 20th.

Don't expect to see the videos of the quilt presentation real soon either.  Nikki took them but is headed straight to Phoenix tomorrow for the show on the 19th and probably won't have time or the means to post anything until she gets home.  Just know that it was very well documented.  You'll probably see some pics later today.

 I was the participant in getting Nikki to put the sexy flower on stage   they were doing some banter and it was perfect timing!!! I was shaking so badly and laughing cuz Jemaine came to get the flower right in front of me and nikki. (sorry for calling you sheila and sounding like an incoherant nerd) I just couldn't belive it. from MY perspective it seemed like Jemaine wanted to do the song...but then they did Beautiful girl to make the flowers dance...Jemaine said "we're gonna play Beautiful Girl because the flowers dance so sultry"     

I got sooo many pictures from the show...and so did John. Especially good ones      and Nigel ALSO loved the flowers     he thought they were pretty and when Jemaine asked if he should move then Nigel said "no, I like them them there"        

The best part of the whole night was the fact that John finally got a picture with Jemaine.    when we met them in Milwaukee a year ago John was the perfect gentleman taking photos for me and my brother and we didn't get one with John    Jemaine totally remember us and when I said that I was taking the picture for John (which he was first    ) Jemaine said "ok...I'll act natural" and then Jemaine proceeded to lean on John with his elbow on his shoulder (can't wait to post pics when I get home    ) he was soooo cute! and John was totally on     when he was done!

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, ARJ BARKER, Abravanel Hall, May 17

Bret McKenzie, one half of New Zealand's Flight of the Conchords, described the band's stage show as, doing "
songs, with a bit of talking in between."

Strictly speaking, that's an accurate assessment, but you're really not getting the full picture there. Instead, theirs is a much-rehearsed, folk-and-joke routine that went over well with the sold-out house in Salt Lake's Abravanel Hall.

It didn't hurt that the most of the songs in the duo's 90-minute set were very familiar to fans of the Conchords' self-titled, half-hour comedy series on HBO.

And the set was heavy on songs about the Conchords' supposed relationship woes. "Hurt Feelings," "Crying" and "Stick Around" weren't as sullen and depressing as their titles may make them sound.

McKenzie, the more slender member (with the scruffy facial hair) is arguably the more talented musician of the two. But throughout the performance, the bespectacled Clement was more than content to play narrator and supply funny voices when needed.

That included voicing the title character in the "Puff the Magic Dragon" spoof "Alby the Racist Dragon," as well as doing keen impressions of actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and musician/occasional actor David Bowie. (The former came in the popular, pro-automaton anthem "Robots," the latter in "Bowies in Space," one of the songs featured in the duo's abbreviated encore.)

Fellow Kiwi Nigel "Dark Horse" Collins joined Clement and McKenzie for about half the set, providing some percussion and cello to flesh out the rather spartan, acoustic sound.

Some occasional off-color humor didn't seem to bother the youngish crowd too much. "Business Time" described love making between two partners, while "Suga Lumps" saw Clement and McKenzie showing off some suggestive dance moves.

And coming onstage in cardboard-and-silver-lame robot outfits, the Conchords opened with the naughty "Too Many (Bleeps) on the Dance Floor," which was followed by a lengthy but tongue-in-cheek discussion of what inspired the song.

Still, the best moments came when they mixed up styles and genres. Both Conchords rapped convincingly on "Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros," while a new song, the goofy "Stana" was clearly inspired by folk standards like Jimmy Dean's "Big Bad John."

There were a couple of notable songs that were missing from the nearly 90-minute performance, such as "A Kiss is Not a Contract," "Ladies of the World" and "The Pretty Prince of Party."

And unfortunately, originally scheduled opener Iron & Wine — a more-serious musical endeavor that would have made a good pairing — had to drop off some dates.

So the duo was accompanied for this show — and on this leg of the tour — by American comedian Arj Barker, who plays the Conchords' pathological liar pal, Dave, on the HBO program.

In his 30-minute stand-up routine, Barker scored early on with some topical humor — such as observing that Salt Lake City's popular Gateway Center "would lead to even-bigger malls."

And his good-natured ribbing of a popular cereal manufacturer that dropped its sponsorship of Olympic Gold Medal-winning swimmer Michael Phelps was amusing.

However, he did go on a little too long, and he was a bit too reliant on four-letter words for emphasis. His unfunny "Doctors Without Degrees" bit deservedly bombed with the audience.
