matt, i think, came out with the two helmets after the show [to where we were waiting] and my very assertive friend ran up and grabbed one and gave it to me.

we passed it around and a bunch of people took photos with it.

That was an awesome moment. I was over on Bret's side, so I had the PERFECT angle to see this. It was like time stood still. Seriously, the clouds parted and angels wept. It was a sight to behold.

P.S. I was at both shows. I'll post any additions to these wonderful stories I have later -- I'm at work now. Blech! (I just couldn't pass up commenting on this tonguey goodness.)

Alright, I've read this forum for the past tour now but I thought I should finally create an account and post my review of the show.

I'll start right after the first show (since I was lucky enough to go to both).

After the first show ended, I came out and stopped by the merch table where Arj was signing stuff and taking pictures. I got him to sign my tour poster (which is really nice - it has the cities of all the tour and it's pretty much the summation of the tour itself). I also have this screen-writing book that I have people I like and write a piece of advice. I asked Arj to write something in it but he just signed it and said that I could probably give him better advice than he could.

While I was waiting for my girlfriend, I saw Nigel come out in the hallway. I quickly ran up to him and had him sign my poster and book. His piece of advice was "
Know thy self."
"

he said. Anyway, I think the highlight of both shows was having this ten minute conversation with Nigel. None of the fans seemed to know who he was so it was just me and him standing there talking. He told me that they were really excited to be done with the tour. He personally was going to stick around San Francisco for a week and than head over for New York for a week before heading back to New Zealand. I asked him about the Ukulele Orchestra and he was surprised about how many people knew about it. He told me that they were suppose to come this year but because of the economic climate, they are going to be coming to the states next year. He had to run back in after that, so I went out to get my tickets and came back in.

Arj was hilarious. During the first show, we came in halfway through his set because we got stuck at the merch table... so it was good to hear the whole thing. I really liked his Blue Shield joke and he's come a long way since the last time I saw him about a few years ago in Oakland with Patton Oswalt.

On to the Conchords - the setlist to the best of my memory. Some of the songs might be out of order:

Same Girl/Sugalumps:
During the Same Girl part, Jemaine said he played "
a little drums"
too. He then pulled out one of those miniature drum sets that you get at Urban Outfitters and played it with his fingers. They sang the first few lyrics to Same Girl when Jemaine messed up. He said maybe he should stop playing the drums when someone yelled "
Your drums suck!"
. Jemaine looked hurt and put them away and we all started saying "
awwww!"
and wanted him to use the drums. He had his guitar out and was like "
No, no, don't do this, don't!"
But he just stuck with his guitar and used it as a bongo.

So I'm surprised no one mentioned this but during the dancing part, Bret took some girls camera and started taking pictures of his sugalumps up close for her. He then called for Jemaine to take some pictures and he stuck the camera down his pants. No joke.

After the show we stood outside in the freezing cold for several hours. Mark came out with the Robot Heads. Props to ohjeez for letting us take pictures with it (I was the asian guy with the cowboy shirt on and you let me and my girlfriend take pictures). Two other people got helmets. One was a girl who just ran away after getting it, the other was this 40 year old man who was rather rude. He told everyone they should leave since someone said the band had left and then when Mark came out with the third robot head he ran up in front of all these girls (including my girlfriend!) and stole it and ran off. So again ohjeez, huge props for letting people use it!

We waited until 2:15am to see if the band really left. We sat around looking into the last tour bus watching Family Guy through the window. Eventually the bus left and we all departed.

Highlights from this show:
- Miniature Drum set played by Jemaine. He used it during the Sugalumps dance saying "
Even my sugalumps play the drums."

- Jemaine burning the guy who told him his drums sucked.
- Ohjeez for letting me get a picture with the robohead.

They played a lot more songs at the first show, but the second one was more funny. It had a lot more banter and I think the guys were just having fun and not worrying about singing.

I have a few videos and pictures that I'll post later (mostly of the guys thrusting at various things). Overall, I was a little disappointed that they didn't come out for their last show ever. But I was glad I at least got to have a great uninterrupted conversation with Nigel and that I got to meet Arj again.
