Bret and Jemaine Dancing
Tue Apr 21, 2009 2:15 pm
I didn't know until about a week ago that Bret had a dance background. (Thanks Bret's Mum [tm])
So I am curious to those who have seen all of the HBO show to this point how Bret's dancing is in comparison to Jemaine. For example, does Bret get more complicated moves than Jemaine does when they're dancing for the same songs (Suga Lumps, Too Many Dicks, etc)? Or is Bret's Angry Dance from season 1 the only thing that distinguishes him from Jemaine? (<
--In terms of dance, folks. Just dance.)
Am curious of your thoughts and opinions. And like any other thread on this board, I'm sure we all can agree that photographic evidence is good.

Honestly, I think threads with titles that include the phrase "
Bret vs. Jemaine"
make me nervous.
I see a ton of potential for this thread to turn ugly. :-/

maybe the title could be something like "
Bret & Jemaine Dancing"
instead? then it might read less like a competition, and more like an appreciation thread?
(i DEFINITELY appreciate their dancing)

I think that B & J's dancing styles are so different that they can't even be compared.
I love both of their moves equally. Unless of course Jem is shaking his hips in front of my face. Then I'm done for.

This probably isn't what you had in mind, but I thought it should be mentioned:

So I'll try not to fill this thread with too much gif evidence, for those who struggle to load the gifs, but I needed to celebrate the opening of this thread with:

No, I didn't mean anything rude by asking my question, certainly not the potential start of fights.
But the intent behind my question is still the same. I wonder how their dancing is the same or different, and I am curious if Bret gets more "
technical"
moves than Jemaine does. I don't know what time Bret stopped taking lessons from his mum, but as another poster on a picture thread noted, he still uses 4th position in a very natural way. Maybe it was so long ago for Bret that the point is now moot.
And thanks for the pictures. They were niiiice. Real nice.

I definitely think Bret's dancing is more technical than Jemaine's since Bret was professionally trained as a child.

Well, I must put my 2 cents in that one of my favorite Jemaine moves is the one from "
Suga Lumps"
that Amily uses as her signature .gif. I think I had a "
HOMAGOD"
moment the first time I saw that.
It shows a real looseness in his hips, I think. I think that's a good thing, shows he's not like some of us who have tightness in our joints and can't move as freely.

I doubt anybody thought your intention was to start a fight.
I have no dance experience whatsoever, I'm lucky I can manage to walk and chew gum at the same time, so I don't think I have much to contribute to this thread in comparing their skills.
Bret's Angry!Dancing makes me very happy, technicalities be damned.
