Yeah, I loved doing that.

Why?
I enjoyed not having that responsibility of having written [Eagle vs Shark]. I just didn't have to worry about that part of it. And my character Jarrod —
I like the guy. It was like playing someone playing a character. He's acting all the time. I like to think of him as a really nice guy who just got beaten up so much that he learned not to act nice. Even though he was. Some people who've seen it are like, ''That guy is such a jerk! Why does Lily like him?'' But I like to imagine that underneath, he's not a jerk.

Another unintentional EvS moment...

The other day at work we were taking down fixtures and shelving to get the store ready to paint and under one of the shelves was a doll's leg... no doll, just a leg. I know, weird right? Well I work in a second hand shop so maybe not now? Anyway, when I saw the leg I immediately had Jarrod's voice in my head saying "
Here's a bit of her leg, that's all that's left!"

I just watched this movie....

I CRIED at the end! :#cry#: It's just the sweetest thing I've ever seen! I love how at the start of the film you make up your mind about his character, but all the way through the layers are peeled back and you see what he's really like and why he acts the way he does. It's just... wow. And anybody else now want to move to NZ? It looks sooo beautiful there. I just love this film :#love3#:

:#happyyes#: This movie is well written and Jemaine did a great job playing Jarrod. First you have a solid opinion about this kind of a guy, a jerk, a laugh but then you feel sorry for him and realise you're no better than him.



You must watch BOY, the second feature film of the same director Taika Waititi, where Taika plays a similar character, a dad who thinks he's a big hero, but he's actually a looser.

And anybody else now want to move to NZ? It looks sooo beautiful there.

Yeah! I think once you see him in his family environment you start to understand why he is the way he is, that it's a defence mechanism for him to cope with it. Jarrod is such a well-written character (and well-played :;
): ). It's just such a moving-and-yet-hilarious film, I love it.
