rachel, it is TOTALLY worth the money. even without the hotness of jemaine it's a great movie, so that's just icing on the cake " title="" border="0"/>
i ordered a copy of the dvd to come w/ my album as well. can't wait!

me and my husband just watched it for the first time tonight...awww...I LOVE IT!! It was soo cool...Lily was the star though...she is just too adorable. But, I have a new-found respect for Jemaine and his acting capabilities. I thought it was going to be hard to watch his sexy butt being all nerdy....but he was really great! This movie was soo worth the wait. because I had to wait two weekends in a row because Netflix kept sending other movies my honey wanted to watch! ;
) I just love it and want to watch it again!!!

Yay Cindy!! Glad you liked it... I don't know how anyone couldn't like it. I do know one person tough... but I just think it's because he's jealous that I like Jemaine more than him LOL

Honestly, the first time I saw E vs. S, I wasn't too impressed with it.
I watched it a second time, did a little more background research on the actors (hence my introduction to into all things Conchord) and because of that, I was able to appreciate it much more. " title="" border="0"/>
You know, I also completely forgot that I was a member of the Eagle vs. Shark official Livejournal group (where you had to fill out a short survey, then they'd tell you whether you were an eagle or a shark.)

i got this in the mail today (along with my copy of the album, hooray!!!!), and i loved the deleted scenes! omg the throwing stars bit was so flippin' funny " title="" border="0"/> i was really saddened by the ones that had the assholes in the car harrassing them, but then the last one where they totally ignore them was SO sweet! i also loved the outtakes, and jemaine's face every time he broke, hehehe have yet to watch the commentary, but i'm definitely looking forward to it.
[edit] so i just watched the commentary tonight, and it was fun, but did you guys know jemaine's girlfriend is in it??? she plays one of the meaty boy employees....crazy!

I loved this movie so much! I rented it and didn't want to return it. So, I ordered it online as a Mother's Day gift to myself, but it still hasn't come yet. " title=">
" border="0"/>
On the "
special features"
, I was disappointed Jemaine didn't take part in any of the commentary, but watching the outtakes more than made up for it. It's so funny watching him break character and lose it, because usually he's so straight-faced and stoic...
It really is such a sweet movie.

Yis! Which character was played by Miranda? Was it the creepy chick in glasses or the throaty-gutteral talkin' chick in the back? I have no idea what Miranda looks like.

I just adored this movie. My daughter watched it 3 times last week.
I loved the claymation bits with the apples and apple cores. Perfect quirky-ness. I'm wondering if Jem had anything to do with that. He's a claymation artist, I believe, not just voice-overs.

You can see Miranda a few times in the movie. 1) She walks behind Lily the first time you see Jarrod come into Meaty Boy in all of his glory, 2) She is standing next to Lily as she gets the news that she is being fired, and 3) She is sitting in the front of the employees who are smoking when Lily has her triumphant walk-by after hooking up with Jarrod.

Yes Jemaine does have a claymation short series called The Pen.. I don't know if he does any of the art but I know he does the voice of one of the sheep. We have a thread about The Pen that NO ONE visits......

Jem does not do any of the art (at least not that I know of), just the voice over. Jem and my friend were talking about that Sunday night. ;

If right now it says 'starting at $21.00,' unfortunately that's all that's out there right now. I kept checking back for around a month, then I got lucky when I found a seller $9.99 plus shipping. I jumped on it! When I got it, the box label was in poor condition...it was obviously re-shrink-wrapped (used?) but no scratches. But, 9 bucks vs. 30...I didn't complain.
Keep checking, don't give up.
You can try EBay too, but they are usually MUCH more expensive.
You never know what you'll find.

I've got a quick question. . .the UK version of Eagle vs. Shark apparently has a different commentary and I was wondering, if I bought that version, would it work on my computer? I know regional dvds need a special dvd player to be played on a tv, but is it the same for computers? Would Windows Media Player have a problem with it?

i'm pretty sure it would work on your computer...
anyway, i've been watching this movie a lot lately and i think it gets better and better each time. at first i was like "
oh that was okay. pretty good."
but now i love it! i love everything about it...the music, the cinematography, the location, the writing! gah it's such a quirky movie.

Chloe, I think it depends on your computer. I'm guessing you have a PC, since you use Windows Media Player? I just got the UK version, and it won't play on my PC, but it will play on my Mac. HOWEVER, the DVD drive can only be coded to one region at a time, and it has a limit of 5 changes. So I've changed it from Region 1 to Region 2, and I can only switch it back and forth 4 more times. Whatever I do the 4th time is permanent. There are programs you can download to do this to a PC as well, but I think it will be the same way, with a limited number of changes. You can sometimes find a region free DVD player for a pretty good price if you think you might get more non-US DVDs in the future. I got mine at Amazon, but I still needed to load the DVD on my computer so I could convert it to an mpeg-4 for my iPod.

Actually, I have an iMac, but I run Windows on it, so I wonder if booting up in the Mac version and playing it there would work? Hmm. . .

i love this film. i think the trailer and the way it was marketed was really different than how the film actually is. it's a really bitersweet love story, and they marketed as though it was another quirky-napoleon dynamite situation. of course we all know that it isn't! it's one of my favorite films...and not just because jemaine is in it ;
)
my manager @ my theatre promised me that she would get me a theatre sized poster from our home office because we played the film last summer ,and because she knows i loved the film so much. i can't wait to hang it up on my wall!
