Rhys Darby East Coast Mini-Tour Fall 2008

I figured I would start this thread since a few of us will be attending dates on Rhys' current Mini-Tour.

First up - The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ

His act was great! I had not watched any clips or anything so that I could be surprised.. and I really was! His use of movement was amazing and I really loved his demeanor throughout the set. Definitely my style of comedy. He told us that this was the first time he had performed stand-up in 3 months (!). I was very impressed.

Of course someone shouted out "
Gingerballs!"
during the set, to which he replied, "
I was waiting for that."
However, that person did get him to say "
Hey, I'm walkin' here!"
- which, I have to admit, I loved. Someone else shouted "
Do you like leggy blondes in real life?!"
to which he replied "
No, but Murray does."
- adorable!

He talked a little bit about the filming and basically said that he thought the scripts were better than last season, the songs were amazing, and that there was a lot more Murray in season 2! He also thanked us for watching and for support and said that he was so pleased by the reaction of people in the US to the show.

He did a little meet and greet inside right after the show. It wasn't a big crowd at all. His wife, Rosie, was there also. She is adorable! She was standing around watching him with fans and as a result became everyone's picture taker - it was pretty funny. Rhys and I chatted for a few brief moments. I was trying to think of something to have him sign before I went to the show, so I printed out a random picture of him from the computer that I thought was funny. When he saw it, he was like "
that's a bit of a weird one"
and Rosie was like "
not the most flattering picture for sure"

And, I got a picture with him yay!



I also asked him for a hug.. and he gave me like a REAL hug. It was awesome. Anyone on the East Coast should definitely go. Another Flighty, Jen, was there. Feel free to add anything on to this!

Thats so cute that she was taking pictures for everyone! LOL

I am sooo jealous!

I am going to the DC show and I will do my best to meet him and get photos.

I am taking my twin sis and she is more obsessed with Rhys than I am, so I think we can get the job done.

I hope Rosie is there too. She's adorable.

Sounds awesome! I'm loving what he says about season 2. He just seems really sweet and so friendly.

I hope to see him in DC, but tickets haven't gone on sale yet (at least from what I can tell).

Our group had a gift for him as well as a gift we asked him to give Jemaine and he said he would. He said there will be no Todd Barry in S2 and that they haven't yet filmed the first episode. I'm not into autographs but people in my group got his autograph and he wrote "

No one's ever called me sheshe but I see no reason not to.

Yes that's me with Rhys. He was so red faced and sweaty. His act is very physical and under those lights he worked up quite a sweat. I wish I had pix or video of him doing The Mermaid- OMG when he danced around I couldn't stop laughing.

BTW while our group was talking to him there was a loud drunk who kept yelling "
I am the real Rhys Darby!"
He was escorted out quite roughly by 2 burly security guards who practically knocked one of my friends on her ass in the process.

Oh I see all the Flighty girls are there. Yeah, you can use some of the pix. My friend has some good vids I took on her camera but she can't be arsed to get them to me. Well in truth she doesn't know how. Next time I'm over there I'll have to download them and I'll put them here if I can.

It unnerves me!
I'd think he WAS the star of Shaun of teh Dead and Hot Fuzz if he didn't drop Harry off to school wearing a suit..
