Conchords stick to geek gear for Emmys

Two funny men from Wellington are likely to be wearing their usual geek chic T-shirts when they attend the glamorous Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles late this year.

Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement's comedy series Flight of the Conchords has won four nominations for the Emmys, America's top television honours.

An excited McKenzie phoned his proud mum, Wellington dance teacher Deirdre Tarrant, yesterday.

"They're both just stoked," she said.

"Four nominations is pretty good for two Wellington lads who still wear the same clothes they took over there two years ago."

The pair plan to take a break from filming to attend the awards.

I love that Bret's mum used the word "stoked." Something tells me they'll be looking hotter than ever
