Ooh! to "

. Could be a possibility if other people are up for it.

Yes! Unfortunately the cinema is in Dundee :-[
...but if Dundee are showing it, then Glasgow has to be!

New Statesman
Gentlemen Broncos is an overlooked classic
Gentlemen Broncos is a jubilant, uninhibited film, with a nutty sense of the fantastic and a genuine faith in the transformative power of the imagination.[size=133:elxw9k7z] I must mention the genius of Jemaine Clement's performance as the clench-jawed SF legend Dr Ronald Chevalier, an icon of self-important buffoonery to rank alongside Garth Marenghi and Alan Partridge.
Chevalier's writing class, in which he focuses exclusively on the importance of giving the right name to your story's "
protag"
, is already a contender for the most delicious scene of the year, just as Clement himself vies only with Nicolas Cage (in The Bad Lieutenant -- Port of Call: New Orleans) for the title of Most Fearlessly Extravagant Comic Turn of 2010.

I have to be honest, I'm not sure if I love or am disappointed with this film. I just find myself shaking my head in many scenes, asking the screen "
Why?"
I'm still thinking back on it and asking why, and I saw it two months ago. Why? WHY?*
*these why's are not affiliated with Jemaine's performance.

I hated it. It made me want to bitchslap Jared Hess and say "
What the f'uck is WRONG WITH YOU?!"
Jemaine was the only amazing thing about that movie. .well, and most of Sam Rockwell's performances, too. I think of their performances both as being nuggets of gold amidst an unfortunate cauldron of shii that was the rest of the movie.
umm. . that's pretty mean of me to say, but there's really no other way I can think to put it--that's just how I feel.

I think for me it was all of the weird, unnecessary excrement gags. For me not to go for such things is ULTRA RARE as I can equally enjoy a poop joke as much as the cleaver craftings of irony. But I think it was just executed so poorly and overtly trying too hard to be weird.
And it was weird.
The kinda weird you get when sitting in the waiting room of a dentist's office and recognizing the male dentist assistant from the sexual offenders registry...
Of the good things, there was not enough (Jemaine, Sam Rockwell).
The Hess's have, unfortunately, busted an M. Night Shamalamadam. He said he could make doorknobs scary if he wanted to.
The Hess's tried to make yeast funny.
To add, at least they have me keep thinking about it to the point where I can't say I hate it, but I can't claim to love it. Its just the weirdness that has put me in this limbo.

To me, bathroom humor is the mark of amateurism. I have never seen a single gross-out joke that was executed well.

I did not like this movie. I was expecting something WAY better. It was terrible.
At least Jemaine's performance was good.

I've only seen the movie 3 times. Watched it once illegally ( :#shy#: ), then twice when the DVD came out to watch with my sister and then my BFF... I don't think I'll watch it in it's entirety again though. Just the Chevalier parts. I didn't hate the movie but I haven't felt the urge to watch it again since March. (I think that's when it came on DVD... ?) :#shrug#:

This may be more appropriate as a poster or artwork piece and then i thought of those cool retro tees with sci-fi stuff that i used to wear or those really bad tees from K-mart, Myer that you got from your mum buying and they were terrible and awesome! So after watching this awe inspiring movie “The Gentlemen Broncos” Same people who did “Napoleon Dynamite” I just had to create this Shirt of one of the weirder scenes that may have been interesting to see it turn into a movie itself Moon Fetus..
