Hot on the heels of news that Office star Craig Robinson is in town shooting a movie, your Lost Coast Outpost correspondent encountered one of his favorite comedy stars and proceeded to make a big ass of himself.
While browsing shirts at Shipwreck in Old Town, Clement said he’s in town working on the same movie project as Robinson. Or, actually, we asked if he was working on that project and he said “yiss,” in his charming Kiwi accent.
Robinson and Clement’s involvement is pretty much the sum total of what we know about the movie. Clement said he will probably be in the area for about a month.
Big Hollywood Stars Will be In Humboldt for the Next Month Filming ‘An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn’
Since reports began to flood in yesterday that Hollywood stars Craig Robinson and Jemaine Clement are in town filming a movie, LoCO‘s been digging up all it can on the film.
Until this morning, we didn’t have much. But one of the movie’s lesser known actors Robert J. Hawk the name of the film last night: “An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn.”
When contacted with this information, Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commissioner Cassandra Hesseltine stated that this name was incorrect. However, this may be a technicality as Hawk misspelled the name Beverly in his Tweet.
“The title as-mentioned is incorrect,” Hesseltine said. “Production asks for respectful distance and the creative ability to work and enjoy their short time in Humboldt County.”
Details on the film are pretty tight lipped, but some savvy googling reveals that Emile Hirsch and Aubrey Plaza may also be in the film.
This info comes from the website CastingAbout.com, which tracks and publishes casting information for major film and television projects in Hollywood.
However, there’s still no word if Hirsch or Plaza will be in town for the month-long shoot.

POSTED BY JENNIFER FUMIKO CAHILL ON THU, JAN 26, 2017 AT 6:08 PM
Shameless and a little lazy, honestly. Actors Craig Robinson (The Office, Hot Tub Time Machine) and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords, What We Do in the Shadows) were right downstairs from the Journal offices at Because Coffee today, after all. The two are in town, along with Aubrey Plaza, filming an indie film directed by Jim Hosking (The Greasy Strangler) called [s:257b7b41]Lena Left Lynn[/s:257b7b41] An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn.
Both Robinson and Clement are enjoying our fair county — Robinson even snapped a sweet photo of an elk up at Prairie Creek — and say they're impressed by its arts scene. Clement, who hails from New Zealand finds our verdant coastal landscape familiar and other than the odd journalist (ahem), everybody's been pretty cool. Eureka City Councilmember Kim Bergel stopped by the coffee shop with her son, with whom Robinson posed for a photo. She also took the one above — which they insisted I had to be in. Clement also joined the Women's March in Eureka this past weekend (Robinson had to work) and was impressed by the turnout.

Beverly Luff Linn is a really weird movie, even by your standards. How would you summarize it in one sentence?
I wouldn’t do that.
Your character in the movie sort of gets dragged into a dispute between a husband and wife. What do you think are the motivations of your character?
The way I felt when I was doing it was that he had seen some bad things happen when he was younger. So he wanted to protect people and that’s what he wanted his job to be. And then he’s thrown into this situation and trying to decide who’s right. He’s confused about what his job should be.
What was it like working with Aubrey Plaza and Craig Robinson?
It was great. I’d worked with both of them before. Craig and I have done live gigs together. Doing Flight of the Conchords, Craig would come play piano for us. Sometimes Brett and I would come join his band. But it was good to do some film work, which is very different from playing music on stage. And Aubrey and I worked on Legion together. It was very nice to be able to work with friends.
