By Daniel Whitfield On March 23, 2012
This morning was business time for Hamilton fans of Flight of the Conchords.
By 6am there were already dozens of hopefuls queuing outside Founders Theatre as tickets for the duo’s New Zealand tour went on sale.

Hamilton’s Luke Hollows was in the queue bright and early.
He said he had missed out on seeing the duo before and was not going to miss out on this tour.
“I know all the songs and most of the lyrics so I will be silently singing along on the night.”
Stacey Wouters, an Edge Roadrunner, also arrived early.
“There were about 30 people queuing outside Founders Theatre when we got here at around 6ish this morning and apparently people had been queuing since midnight for these tickets,” she said.
The show’s promoters wanted to combat scalping by selling tickets to people in person.
“We really want to get tickets in local people’s hands at face value,” said co-promoter Brent Eccles.

From left sitting Mathieu Landry of Hamilton (orange Stripe), Caroline Evans (grey blanket), Hamilton, Jodie Clarke, Hamilton, Abigail Stansfield from England , Nicola Baillie , Hamilton (sleeping Bag), Ezra Nordstromand and sister Taaniko Nordstrom of Cambridge.
Flight of the Conchords fans queued for more than eight hours overnight to secure tickets to the comedy duo's one-off Hamilton show.
With blankets, books, deck chairs and wet weather gear Taaniko and Ezra Nordstrom lined up at Founders Theatre about 11:30pm last night to ensure they would be the first to get one of 300 prime tickets released at 8am today.
Taakino said it was "
anxiety"
that they might miss out which motivated them to camp overnight.
About 200 people had joined the queue by the time the box office opened and with two tickets allowed per person there was a possibility some would miss out.
Krystal Tekira, who was the last person in line, said she was "
freaking out"
.
"
I'm literally going to have a panic attack,"
she said.
She said if she didn't have to work she would have stayed overnight.
Pre-sale tickets to the Hamilton show went on sale midday Tuesday and sold out in minutes.

Hamilton safe from standup tirade
LOUISE RISK

While the Flight of the Conchords duo prepared to perform to a sellout Hamilton crowd last night, their opening act spilled the beans backstage about Kiwi girls and Hamilton city.
United States comedian Arj Barker, who played pawn shop employee and dubious advice-giver Dave Mohumbhai on the hit television show, said Wellington duo Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement were excited to be home for their much-anticipated national tour.
Barker said the pair kept the mood backstage relaxed, and for the crew members who had worked together before, it was something of a reunion tour.
"
Bret and Jemaine are so nice and they're not big show business egos.
"
That travels down from the top and makes a good vibe."
Barker said Wednesday night's opening show was a bit of a warmup for him, and he expected Hamilton's show to be better.
And the locals would be safe from the usual slew of Hamilton jokes, because Barker said that was not his style.
He might make a joke about a place, but from his own observations, not the stereotypes it suffers, he said.
"
Every city has a city they make fun of, but it's not my thing."
Barker said in Auckland they probably make fun of Hamilton, Hamilton would make fun of a smaller town and so on down to a man living outside a village in a tent.
"
He just thinks everything's cool.
"
He doesn't know he's the bottom of the insult chain."
Barker said his on-screen character Dave was an exaggeration of his own character, but he was reluctant to dish out any advice about Kiwi girls the way he did about American girls on the show.
"
You just have to treat everyone the way you want to be treated, you know?
"
It's not funny but it's true.
"
Treat people respectfully and maybe you'll get some action."
When he realised the article would appear after the Hamilton show, in the best tradition of comedy self-promotion Barker quickly provided shameless "
post-show"
feedback.
"
I thought it went really well.
"
People seemed really interested in getting my new DVD Joy Harvest."
